Cacti and Zabbix

mx1_email_stats

For the past few years, I have worked with many technologies involved in collecting and displaying statistical information for the ITS department at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.  I began by using Cacti and building an integrated system with a custom front-end using uPortal.  After using it for several years, however, we began using Zabbix as a replacement.  Zabbix is a much more user-friendly system that has all of the capability of Cacti, as well as additional features.

The transition from Cacti to Zabbix was not simple, so I developed a set of scripts to convert data.  I posted this work here.  Hopefully my work will help more people smoothly transition from Cacti to the more advanced Zabbix.
